The new Suzuki Across plug-in hybrid SUV is due to go on sale in Europe this autumn. It is the first product of the partnership with Toyota. This plug-in hybrid is based on the current Toyota RAV4 generation.

The Suzuki Across has the dimensions 4,635mm x 1,855mm x 1,690mm. It is 35 mm longer and 5 mm higher than the RAV 4. The SUV's wheelbase measures 2,690 mm. The model is distinguished by the polygonal design. One that combines the qualities of a rugged SUV with a sporty front end, dominated by the oversized grille. The hybrid SUV takes over the basic elements of RAV4 but also proposes small design tweaks.

The new Suzuki Across equipped with a sophisticated plug-in hybrid system that offers impressive fuel economy and low CO2 emissions, but which at the same time responds promptly and linearly to acceleration. The plug-in hybrid unmatched fuel economy, smooth acceleration and low CO2 emissions - just 22 g / km.

The plug-in hybrid powertrain consists of a powerful electric motor that delivers a generous level of torque at low speeds, combined with a 2.5-litre petrol engine that ensures fast acceleration at higher speeds. The electric motor produces 134 kW and a maximum torque of 270 Nm. It is powered by a Li-ion battery located under the floor with a capacity of 18.1 kWh. The petrol engine develops 175 hp.

This architecture allows for an E-Four electronic 4x4 system. The E-Four system uses a 40 kW electric motor located on the rear axle. It works in tandem with the electric motor on the front axle.

The plug-in hybrid system develops a total of 306 hp.

The plug-in hybrid powertrain available on the new Suzuki Across offers four pre-set driving modes. These are EV, Auto EV / HV, HV and battery charger mode. These can be selected and used depending on the road or traffic conditions.

In EV mode, the Across is powered only by the electric motor. In Auto EV / HV and HV modes, the petrol engine intervenes and assists the electric motor with extra power. The battery charger mode ensures the storage of electricity in the battery.

The new Suzuki Across PHEV is fully equipped with the latest safety systems (Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) ), thus offering confidence and peace of mind with every trip, both to the driver and to the passengers.

The E-Call system, which can initiate an emergency call with a single push of a button in the event of a car accident, is also present on the new Suzuki ACROSS.

Due to its low CO2 emissions, the new Suzuki Across PHEV SUV will become the first eligible Suzuki model which can benefit from government incentives.

Prices have not yet been announced. The price should undoubtedly be lower than that of the Toyota RAV4, which should make it possible to attract customers with a tighter budget tempted by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that has already proven itself.
